The Aviary Hotel

SIEM REAP’S SECRET

⇷☓⇸

The Aviary is one of those unique boutique hotels that can be found hidden away from the bustling busy streets of Siem Reap which is a sophisticated urban oasis that has been inspired by nature and Cambodia’s rich heritage of traditional crafts.

Its the little things that add up and makes your stay here truely fantastic. upon arrival you are greeted with a cold lemongrass scented towel as well as an icy glass of tamarind juice to quench your thirst in the humid heat. They offer fantastic tours throughout the city and have a beautiful and enchanting turquoise pool surrounded by vines and flowers making it a truely exotic experience.

If you find yourself in Siem Reap then I would highly recommend booking a few nights at The Aviary.

Highlights

  • The room was delightful and perfect for our needs
  • Secluded pool for a quiet dip
  • Complimentary cookies with each turn down
  • Great location and central to everything you need
  • Impeccable customer service and made to feel at home

Sarus Crane Suite

The Aviary Hotel, Siem Reap, Cambodia

During our stay at The Aviary hotel we opted for the Sarus Crane Suite and we were certainly not disappointed with our few nights there. The suite was huge, and was plenty of space for us to chill out and relax in. Situated on the top floor of The Aviary, it has 60-square-metres, complete with a large bedroom, a separate living room area and a private balcony with plenty of natural light.

With the bird theme continued into the rooms, feather motifs and bird silhouettes flock over the walls and are highly distinctive making your stay more unique. It comes equipped with a very comfortable double bed, free wifi, two 42 inch TV’s, tea & coffee making facilities, bathrobes & slippers and an amazing view from the balcony.

The bathroom was also very modern, with an amazing rainfall shower, free toiletries and also comes equipped with a tub and complimentary lemongrass bath salts. There is a ‘his & hers’ sink and mirror which came in super handy during our stay as well as plenty of fresh soft towels.

Activities

The Pool

The Aviary Hotel, Siem Reap, Cambodia

Considering it doesn’t have a view, this was certainly one of my favourite pools I have been in. This was partly helped by the fact that it felt private because no one else was using it when I was.

The pool design gives off a very natural vibe thanks to the stone-textured tiles, the polished rocks bordering the pool, and the wooden deck around it. The look is finished off by all the plants hanging from the balconies above, which make you feel more like you’re in the jungle near Angkor Wat than in the bustling town of Siem Reap.

Another nice touch was that each lounge chair came with its own cute little sun hat.

The Spa

I don’t know about you, but after a long day of exploring temples you cant go wrong with a soothing treatment and massage. The Amret Spa, located on the top floor of The Aviary is a sanctuary from the stresses and strains of daily life, trained therapists offer a range of treatments to pamper guests in a calming and peaceful space – perfect.

Get out and about

accomodation in Cambodia

The hotel is pretty much in the perfect location for everything you could possibly need. It’s much more central than many of the bigger hotels and resorts in town, and therefore is much more conveniently located near many great restaurants, nightlife, and the local night market. Despite being in a busier area, because the hotel isn’t sitting right on the street but rather hidden a little further back in an alley, there wasn’t much of an issue with noise at night.

Pub Street, Siem Reap, Cambodia

Similarly, the hotel is located about a five minute walk away from Pub Street, an almost maze-link area of small streets filled with bars— but also far enough away that you could completely avoid the area if you wanted to.

Cafe & Food

The Aviary Hotel, Siem Reap, Cambodia

Floor-to-ceiling windows open onto a jungle-inspired garden at The Flock Cafe where you can treat yourself to a selection of delicious coffees, mouth-watering snacks and light meals created using locally sourced organic produce.

The restaurant is the ideal place to discover organic Asian flavours during a sophisticated lunch or a romantic evening meal. I highly recommend the Pad Thai which was delicious!

How to get there

The Aviary is nestled in the heart of Siem Reap, just 400 metres from the bars and restaurants of Pub Street, the bustling old market and the vibrant night market. The historic temples of Angkor are a short tuk-tuk ride away from the hotel.
