Does Going Home Mean Failure?

To Travel is to live, if you at least tried then its worth it!

I get asked on a daily basis; ‘But what if it doesn’t work out?’ ‘What if you don’t enjoy it?’ ‘What if you want to come home?’ quite regularly now that I have made the move to leave and travel around the world. And they are also questions I have asked myself. They aren’t unrealistic and there is every chance this may happen.

What if?

It’s those ‘WHAT IF’ questions which prevent a lot of people from taking the plunge and living their dreams. I cant let that happen.

I honestly have no idea how long I will travel for or if I will even enjoy it in a year or two. Priorities can change, life decisions will probably be need to made but at the end of the day it doesn’t matter.

So if you’ve been thinking about traveling but worry you can’t make it a full year around the world or that you might not have the skills to travel, I say to you: who cares? You can always head home if you want.

Returning home is NOT a failure.

Travel teaches us about ourselves and makes us better people. Deciding to come home simply means travel taught you something about yourself you wouldn’t have known otherwise: that extended travel is not for you. Its OK. You gave it your best shot and at least you can turn around and say I tried it, it wasn’t for me, rather than saying you didn’t even go.

Take a chance

The path home will always be there, its never shut for you. Whereas the path forward might not, it may not always be there.

Its worth attempting to travel, to learn more about yourself and others, even if what you learn is that home may be the better option for you.
